What's Hot: October

What’s in the stars this month? What’s Hot consults its astrological chart and  predicts a strong showing for a shady interiors trend.

We are bewitched by Louisa’s style and how she has integrated Halloween so effortlessly within it. With her emphasis on pinks rather than black alongside the traditional orange, Louisa is also channelling a scarily good design trend for this year which sees colourful pinks, blues and yellows bringing a feeling of freshness and fun to the ghostly event. Check out her Instagram here for more inspiration.

We’re increasingly finding happiness from the little, everyday moments in life and valuing the time spent with those closest to us. Netflix party, girls night in, having family over for dinner… it takes just five items to dress up an at home informal get-together. And they won’t break the bank. Here’s just one idea for elevating the everyday. Just add some seasonal dahlias and you’re set to go. We call it TTing your night in.

We are in Libra, the sign represented by a set of scales. Libras are generally believed to be seekers of balance and harmony. But what sort of party guests do they make? To celebrate the launch of our Zodiac game and to have a little fun we asked leading astrologer Victor Olliver what kind of party guest you are based on when you are born. As for Libras, they are most likely to be busy taking selfies with everyone. As he says: “Libra loves to be seen hanging out with their friends and snapping party moments for posterity, or until their mobile phone runs out of battery.” What kind of guest are you based on your star sign, find out here. To be taken with a pinch of stardust, of course.

We’re loving Pantone’s Midnight deep blue, one of its key colours for A/W22. Described by the colour experts as ‘restful and restorative’, it’s coming through strongly in interiors, as seen here in HomeStyle magazine. At just £10, our new navy bud vase is a stylish and inexpensive way to buy into the trend.

We’ve seen it on hair, on the catwalk and on nails and now the ombre trend is making it into homes. To put the record straight, ombre wasn’t invented by the singer Aaliyah who popularised it for hair. The word ombre has its origins in the French word ‘ombrer’ which means ‘to shade’. It can be traced back to Victorian times when it was first used in fabrics. We’re working the trend this season with brightly coloured candles and honeycombs.

The Letters to Santa are already arriving at the North Pole, AKA TT Towers. Slime appears to be a particular favourite this year and there’s a real  retro feel with requests for Play-Doh, kites and Minnie Mouse teddys. But our favourite has to be the chocolate lolly maker. Every letter gets a personal response from one of the TT elves.
